Accidentally a Product: My Travel Planner

A practical Notion system for trips became a quiet earner. Hundreds of copies sold without advertising

Year:

2022

Highlights

  • Context: 2022 downsizing → one suitcase + one backpack; constant travel

  • Problem: Too many moving parts - flights, visas, packing, reservations, local logistics

  • Solution: An all-in-one Notion planner

  • Distribution: Submitted only to the Notion Template Gallery

  • Outcome: Hundreds of copies sold; daily organic sales for a period

In 2022 - at one of those “reset” points in life - my wife and I sold or donated almost everything and kept what fit in two suitcases and two backpacks. New countries, new rules, new logistics every few weeks.

I built a Notion travel planner to keep trips clean and predictable. Each trip had the same spine: itinerary on top, reusable packing lists, places to visit, food to try, entry regulations, SIM and transport notes, and a space for documents and screenshots.

It worked for us, so I put it in the Notion Template Gallery with zero promotion, mostly out of curiosity. Then the sales started - a couple of notifications each morning. Over time, that quiet stream turned into hundreds of copies.
